David is a business focused occupational psychologist working with clients across a spectrum of challenges from large scale international assessment, development and performance management projects to competency based development and executive coaching for entrepreneurial owner managers. David joined Enterprise Ireland in 1996 and worked as a change consultant enhancing business performance between commercial and technical advisors and management in Ireland's authority to encourage growth in indigenous Irish commercial organisations.
Moving to SHL Ireland in 1997 David worked as consultant specialising in designing recruitment, selection and assessment processes for clients including Intel, Eircom, Irish Military, Lucent Technologies, ESB, Ernst & Young and the Health Services Executive. A key achievement during this period was to design and implement the first competency based web recruitment system to be used in Ireland with Bank Of Ireland and in implementing an EU development programme for SME directors and owner managers.
David relocated to Amsterdam in 2001 to work as the head of international projects for SHL Europe and set up business function managing commercial consultants across 15 country operations. Career highlights from this time include the implementation of customised competency based selection systems for sales and marketing staff for a one of the world largest clothing brands, project management of senior leadership development programmes in the Pharma and Telecoms sector and the development of an organisational competency model for a UN agency. Exciting and more unusual pursuits involved organisational development work with Serbian banking organisations, introduction of personality and competency assessment with the National Iranian Oil Company and design of selection process for all professional staff for the worlds largest gas exploration on the Caspian Sea. David moved on from SHL in 2004 having developed a strong business development team, achieving strong growth in the online psychometrics business and on personal level a deep understanding of European and Asian business cultures from Norway to Kazakstan and almost every country in between.
Along with business consulting work David has also lectured on selection, development and career management in many of Ireland's main third level institutions including Queens University Belfast, UCD, DCU, Tallaght IT, GMIT, and DKIT.
David graduated with honours Psychology degree from Trinity College Dublin and MSc in Occupational Psychology from Queens Belfast in 1997. Outside of work David enjoys Hurling (Irelands National Sport), tennis, travel and current affairs. |
